Humane Society waives adoption fees for ‘Empty the Shelters’ campaign

The Hill Country Humane Society announces an important initiative taking place at the shelter, which is currently at maximum capacity. For the next two weeks, from May 1-15, Bissell will sponsor all adoption fees in support of our “Empty the Shelters” event, aimed at finding loving homes for the many animals currently in our care.

Saturday, May 11, marks the 32nd anniversary of one of America’s great days of giving - the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers travel throughout communities daily, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many hunger.

The Bulldog track team earned another team championship last week, this time taking the Area crown after some impressive performances. Individually the Dawgs earned 13 spots at this week’s regional meet and qualified 10 athletes.

Dwindling reservoirs cause concern

As the region continues to deal with the effects of a severe drought, the Lower Colorado River Authority has determined no water from the Highland Lakes will be available for most LCRA agricultural customers in Colorado, Wharton and Matagorda counties in 2024.
