Not far from the well-traveled route of SH 71, a little secret is secluded in the Llano County hills edging Lake LBJ's southwestern edge - Sunrise Beach.
Its curling roads reveal a community of fine homes, beautiful waterfront, a wonderful general store and some excellent lodging and dining.
San Antonio developer David Miller established the village in 1958 as a resort and retirement center and it became an incorporated municipality in 1973.
"Sunrise Beach...was built by people who were willing to put forth much hard effort in the making of a community in which all could take pride," said Dick Hart, who wrote a history of Sunrise Beach for its 25th anniversary celebration in 1998.
