Daniel Moreno Escamilla
Daniel Moreno Escamilla, 50, of Bertram passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 after an extended illness. He was born in Bertram and lived also in Burnet. He was employed with the City of Burnet Parks for nine years and did work on the Hamilton Creek Parks. He was also self-employed for 3 years with D& S Company and worked in concrete construction.
He loved to build and keep busy and was always finding something to do. He did work on small engines and enjoyed woodworking. Daniel was a caring and loving person who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. Daniel was an inspiration to many and has left many friends and many memories behind and will be greatly missed.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Escamilla, Sr.; and is survived by his mother, Carlotta Moreno Escamilla of Bertram; sisters Alice Escamilla of Bertram and Becki Escamilla of Burnet; brothers Andrew Escamilla, Jr., Michael Escamilla, and Thomas Escamilla, all of Bertram, stepdaughters, Taunya Baladez, Angela Drake, and Kaylyn Mayee Drake and grandchildren, Mara Watson, Kevin Watson, Kendrick Baladez, and Shane Bible.
He is also survived by nephews Brandon Tucker, Branson Tucker, Dillion Tucker, Hayden Tucker, and Landon Tucker. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, and friends. He leaves behind longtime friends Pete Billac and Sandra Whitworth.
A rosary service was held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bertram. At his request, his ashes will be buried at the family cemetery near Andice.
