BOPATE event set for next month

The next Burnet County Waste Collection Event is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday April 29, 2023 in Marble Falls at 1000 Manzano Mile.

During the BOPATE event, officials will collect lead acid and rechargeable batteries, motor oil and oil filters, latex paint, antifreeze, small electronics and other residential items, including:

• Automobile tires 24 inches or less. First 10 tires free. $2 per tire after first 10 tires accepted.

• Scrap metal. Officials will not accept:

• Tires with rims.

• Appliances.

• Lawnmowers.

• Containers larger than five gallons.

• Console televisions.

• Medical and pharmaceutical items.

• Chemicals or household hazardous waste.

• Business, commercial, industrial waste.

Various local agencies and governments will sponsor the event, including the cities of Bertram, Burnet, Cottonwood Shores, Granite Shoals, Highland Haven, Horseshoe Bay, Marble Falls, Meadowlakes, the Burnet County Commissioners Court, the Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District, the Reliable Tire Disposal, Hill Country Recycling, Goodwill Central Texas, the Burnet County Community Services Restitution Program and the 33rd and 424th Judicial District Intermediate Sanction Facility.

Officials plan to hold a “full chemical disposal event” at a time to be determined Oct. 21 in Burnet. For more information call the Groundwater District at 512-756-4900.
