Trees are ready for winter
Despite all the unseasonably warm days of recent weeks, the trees in our area know that winter is here. Actually the first day of winter is December 21.
Many of the trees have dropped their leaves in the past few days, and their bare branches, some displaying mistletoe, are etched against the sky. The trees know.
Texas Extension Education Party
On Thursday, December 9, the Texas Extension Education Clubs held their annual Christmas Party in Burnet.
A delicious luncheon was served amid festive Christmas decorations. A silent auction was held and non-perishable food and monies were donated to a local food bank.
Carol Singing at Oakalla Baptist Church
Oakalla Baptist Church is inviting people to join in a singing of Christmas Carols on Friday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m.
Briggs Baptist Church Events
Briggs Baptist Church is hosting some December events and inviting everyone to participate.
At 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 19th there will be a Christmas Story in Scripture and Song.
At 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, December 19th there will be Caroling under the Tabernacle. There will be hot chocolate, cookies, decorating, ornaments and more.
On Wednesday the 22nd there will be a Christmas Candlelight Service during this special evening service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Contact 512-489-2300 for further information.
Santa Clause at the Oakalla Library
Santa Clause is coming to the Oakalla Library on Tuesday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m. For more information, you may call 512-525-3864.
Acoustic Night at Briggs Community Center
Once again it’s time for all pickers, singers and listeners to join in for a night of music at the Community Center. The time is Saturday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m. For more information you may contact 512-556-1471.
Mahomet Christian Church
Members of the Mahomet Christian Church are developing plans to rebuild the church that was burned last December. More information will be available in future articles about some of these plans.
