Dawgs fall to Stangs, 51-34
Burnet RB Trenton Hafley runs over a Mustang defender on his way to the endzone for one of his four touchdowns during Friday's nights contest in Marble Falls. Hafley had a great night running the ball for the Bulldogs who came up short in the game.

The Bulldogs dropped to 1-2 after falling short to the Marble Falls Mustangs on the road Friday night, 51-34.

Burnet kicked off the game with an impressive opening drive that ended with a 28-yard Derek Kiser to Blayne Parisher touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead with 9:49 left in the first quarter.

That would be the only time the Dawgs would have the lead.

Marble Falls answered with a score on their first possession and before the first quarter clock expired the Mustangs held a 20-7 lead.

On the Dawgs second possession of the second quarter Trenton Hafley rushed in for an 8-yard score. Austin Huff’s PAT made it 20-14 with 9:04 left in the half. Marble Falls kicked a 28-yard field goal to make it 23-14, but with 4:22 left before the break Hafley added another Burnet score, pushing the Bulldogs closer, 23-21.

The Mustangs put together a lengthy drive that had them adding seven more before the break and when the first half ended it was 30-21.

Burnet gave up a touchdown on the first series of the second half and never really recovered. The Dawgs got as close as nine points in the third, but a couple of turnovers allowed Marble Falls to pull away again. Hafley scored two more touchdowns in the second half, but Marble Falls eventually walked away with the 51-34 win.

The Bulldogs will host Canyon Lake this Friday night for Homecoming. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog stadium.
