JV suffers first lossOctober 02, 2012, 11:59 pm by Wayne Craig
A very depleted 3-0 JV football team took to the field Thursday night to face the Taylor Ducks in Burnet. The Dawgs were short numerous players due to injury on their own team as well as the varsity. Several players stood on the sidelines in street clothes from illness as well as injury and two other key players were moved up to the varsity to fill the shoes of hurt players at that level. Burnet’s JV played without their quarterback, Taylor Barksdale, and their starting middle linebacker, Everardo Medrano. The players that did suit-up showed tremendous heart and determination throughout the lop-sided match and fought to the bitter end in a game that got away from them quickly and ended, 42-14. Right out of the gate back-up QB Caleb Alexander did a great job leading his team down the field. After just two runs by Alexander and Jonathan Brown the Dawgs cashed in a 39-yard score by Brown with 8:42 left in the opening quarter. Alex Melvin hit the PAT and Burnet was up, 7-0. |
