Faith Academy stands tall again in shutout win

Faith Academy put together another big goal-line stand and its offense rolled in a 37-0 shutout over Holy Trinity of Temple Friday night in Marble Falls.

Midway through the second quarter and the Flames leading 6-0, they turned back the visitors from Temple and then Brian Freeman raced 87 yards and the Flames were off and running.

The Flames, 6-0 in their first season in 11-man football, took just four plays to go 99 yards thanks to Freeman’s 87-yard sprint.

Freeman also scored the game’s first touchdown on a 32-yard run at the 4:34 mark of the first quarter.

"That goal-line stand is the type of play that builds a program,’’ said Faith Academy coach Russ Roberts.

Seth McAnally added a two-point conversion pass to Hunter Manchac after the 87-yard run to push the score to 14-0.

The Flames scored two more times before half on Austin Ellis’ 20-yard pas to Manchac and a McAnally 4-yard run. McAnally bolted into the end zone with one second left on the clock in the second quarter.

Jason Byrd scored on a 4-yard run on the first possession of the second half. Jake Diamond kicked the 37^th point.

Faith Academy will play the Texas School of the Deaf next week in a key district clash, Roberts said.
