Riddell wins council term
Pat Riddell

Pat Riddell will return to the Burnet City Council after rolling to an easy victory Tuesday in a special election to fill an unexpired term.

Riddell, who left the council in 2011 because of term limits, was the winner in a four-person race, getting 654 votes (52 percent).

Michelle Devaney was second with 352 votes (28 percent) with Mary Jane Shanes third with 170 votes (13 percent) and George Banks fourth with 84 votes (7 percent).

The race was to fill the unexpired term left by the departure of former council member Kevin Davis, who moved with his family to Llano.

The position comes up for election again next May.
