Bulldogs reach the end of the road
Kody Hall lead blocks for kickoff return man Cory Cavender at Friday night's Bi-District playoff game against Stephenville. The Dawgs lost to the Yellowjackets, 56-27.

The Burnet Bulldogs were knocked out of the playoffs Friday night after being defeated by Stephenville, 56-27.

The Yellowjackets were able to score on each of their first half possessions to take a big 49-6 lead at the break. Burnet’s Cameron Langley scored the Dawgs only first half points on a 1-yard run late in the second quarter. Austin Huff did a nice job with his kicking game in the first half with two well executed on-side kicks, both of which Burnet recovered.

The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff of the third quarter and march down-field with some solid running by Langley and Jordan Barnard. Once again it was Langley who added the points with a 2-yard run for the score.

After the touchdown the Bulldogs elected to send the kick-off deep and Stephenville returned it for a touchdown, which put them up 56-12 early in the third quarter.

Langley scored two more times for the Bulldogs and the game eventually ended, 56-27.

The Bulldogs finished the 2012 season with a 5-6 overall record.

In other district news Brownwood was defeated by Glen Rose 14-10, and Gatesville beat Alvarado 48-28. Pick-up Wednesday’s Burnet Bulletin for more game details.
