Wenona (Moss) Burks was born in Frederick, Okla., on Oct. 13, 1927. She was one of two children born to Myrtle Naomi Moss and Roy Lincoln Moss. She passed away on Nov. 19, with her family at her side. Burks attended North Texas State University and graduated with a Music Degree. She and Bill relocated to Midland, Mich., where she taught music in the Midland Public Schools for 20 years. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to the hill country at Horseshoe Bay, where she continued her love of music at the Church at Horseshoe Bay. There, she helped to establish the Bluebonnet Chorale and directed the church handbells.
She is survived by sons Roy Wilford and wife Marianne, Richard Boothe and wife Karin; grandchildren U.S. Marine Warrant Officer Select Matthew Wilford Burks and wife Britni, Katherine Burks Johnson and husband James, Ryan Shea Burks, and Ashley Shea Burks; and great-grandson Cade Philip Burks Ortega. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Wilford "Bill” Burks Jr.
The family would like to thank our church family for all their love and support. Memorial donations may be made in Wenona’s name to The Church at Horseshoe Bay.
