Margaret C. Molzan April 23, 1919 ~ Nov. 28, 2012

Margaret Catherine (Humpal) Molzan passed away gently in her sleep on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at
the age of 93.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 23, 1919, and like so many others, experienced the difficulties of those times. Her father died before her birth in the Spanish influenza epidemic, and she grew up with her working mother, grandmother, and five uncles. She had to leave high school before graduation and go to work in an awning and shade company where she worked until her marriage in 1942 to Howard A. Molzan. They shared 68 years of marriage, handling difficulties with hard work, the frugal practicality of having grown up during the Depression, and laced it all together with a good sense of humor. Most of their married life was spent in Maple Heights, Ohio, where they raised their two daughters. Molzan packed countless bagged lunches, had a big supper on the table every evening at 6 o’clock sharp, gardened, helped with Girl Scouts, PTA, band parents, church; loved the family dog and put up with the menagerie of critters her girls hauled home, and efficiently packed up all the camping gear for many summer weekend camping trips...and she gamely climbed into the tippy homemade canoe even though she never learned to swim. She was a good sport.
In their twilight years, the couple moved to Texas to be close to their youngest daughter and enjoyed the ranch country around Mason and Llano. They liked going on drives around the Llano River, seeing the cattle, deer, and other animals.
They received great care and warm friendships at the Mason Nursing Home and later in Llano at Hill Country Health Care, where she was often referred to as "Granny” by her favorite aides and nurses.
She is survived by daughter Janice and husband Carl Schmidt of Minerva, Ohio, and their four children: Heather, Aaron, Erik, and Kyle; daughter Donna and husband Pete Hunt of Art, Texas, and their son Tanner; and four great-grandchildren.
