Henry Hammons Oct. 4, 1942 ~ Dec. 12, 2012December 07, 2012, 9:00 am by Staff Reports Henry Hammons, 70, of Buchanan Dam, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12. He was born to Ernest Herman and Jean (Harrell) Hammons in Torrance, Calif., on Oct. 4, 1942. Hammons was active in functions in Llano County. He was a star running back at Llano High School holding two records. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a BA degree. He opened Big John’s BBQ in 1977. He was an animal lover who enjoyed rodeos, all sports, especially hunting, fishing, and served the best BBQ around. He is survived by daughter Marcy Hammons Tanner; son Marcus and wife Valerie Hammons; grandchildren Adam, Ryan, Mason, Braden, Tristan, Melanie, Seth, Claire and Grace; and sister Kathy Wolfe. Memorial Services will be held on Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Big John’s at the intersection of RR 1431 and TX 29 in Buchanan Dam. An online Guest Register may be signed at www.Putnam-Cares.com.
