G’Shoals storage unit fire under investigation

January 21, 2013, 6:00 pm by Adam Troxtell

An investigation has been launched to determine what caused a fire at Ross Storage in the 7100 block of RR 1431 in Granite Shoals Monday morning.

Capt. Gary Boshears of the Granite Shoals Police Department said 18 storage units were "pretty much totaled” in the blaze that broke out around 7:15 a.m. this morning.

"There were some suspicious circumstances, so we are investigating,” Boshears said. "We had a witness that reported seeing a black car leave the scene right before the fire. We don’t know if they are connected in any way with the fire, but we would like to talk to that person.”

Marble Falls Fire Rescue and Granite Shoals Fire Department battled the blaze. Marble Falls Fire Chief Johnny Caraway said it took over two hours to get the fire under control. Items in the storage units affected included a car and a boat.

Boshears said his office is seeking witnesses or anyone who might know anything about the Ross Storage fire. The Granite Shoals Police Department can be reached at 830.693.3611, and Hill Country Area Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1.866.756.TIPS for those who wish to report any suspicious activity they witnessed.
