Dudley H. Holland Dec. 4, 1919 ~ Feb. 1, 2013
Dudley Howard Holland, 93, received his hard earned and much deserved wings on Feb. 1.
He was born Dec. 4, 1919 to Marshall N. and Bessie M. Holland. He was the fifth of eight children.
He was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa, greatgrandpa, father-in-law, and grandfather-in-law. He was a proud WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp. He was loved by so many and respected by all. He adored his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Our favorite memories of him are sharing his love of all animals, which inevitably became his pets. His latest love was his goats. He was most comfortable surrounded by Mother Nature. He was a steward of the land and animals. He was a remarkable 93-year-old man that could still build fences and herd goats.
He beat the odds many, many times over. He was a fighter and the Lord allowed him to go home on his own terms. Even until the end, he had priorities that had to be taken care of before he could let go. Once he knew that his checklist was complete, he went to meet his beloved Grace. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loved ones. He went to the Lord with grace and dignity. He passed away on the 14th anniversary of the death of his wife of 48 years. They are truly together forever. He was so loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Claudie Mae Holland, Marshall Jay Holland, Malcolm Franklin Holland, Anna Ruth Wilde, and Edna Lois Mischer; and his beloved wife Grace Marie Bagwell Holland.
Holland is survived by his siblings Donald Gene Holland of Midland, and Fred Hays Holland and wife Billie Jean of Marble Falls; daughters Marianne McEwin and husband Ray of Odessa, and Donna Kay Sralla and husband Ronnie of Marble Falls; grandchildren Christopher Bishop and wife Tara of Grand Prairie, Timothy Sralla and wife Krissy of Marble Falls, and Lisa Cathey and husband Derek of Andrews; great-grandchildren Briley Kay Sralla, Hunter Cathey, Parker Bishop, and Kyndall Grace Cathey; brothers-in-law J. A. Bagwell and wife Edwyna, of Poncha Springs, Colo., and Robert Bagwell of Hazlehurst, Miss.; sister-in-law LaTrelle Bagwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Monday Feb. 4, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Falls, with burial to follow in the Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Texas. Pallbearers were grandsons Christopher Bishop, Timothy Sralla, and Derek Cathey, and nephews Howard Holland, John Holland, and Garrett Skiles. Arrangements made by Edgar Funeral in Burnet.
