Illegal gambling equipment was seized from seven gaming establishments in Burnet and Llano counties and two people were arrested Thursday evening in a coordinated operation involving 13 law enforcement agencies, District Attorney Sonny McAfee said Friday.
The equipment was taken from two gaming facilities each in Burnet, Marble Falls and Llano and one in Kingsland, McAfee said at a news conference.
Jennifer Cumbee, 37, who listed a Cumberland, Indiana address, was arrested Thursday evening by Burnet Police Department officers and booked into the Burnet County Jail on charges of keeping a gambling place, gambling promotion, possession of a gambling device/equipment and resisting arrest, search or transport.
McAfee said the search warrant for the seven establishments involved allegations of illegal gambling devices and evidence of illegal activity.
"An investigation began in February into illegal gambling, organized criminal activity and money laundering," McAfee said.
The investigation was spearheaded by an undercover operation by the Burnet County sheriff’s office Special Operations Unit, McAfee said. For the complete story, see Tuesday’s Highlander and Wednesday’s Burnet Bulletin and Llano County Journal.
