New Mac lab to help students excel

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School Districtís board of trustees made a significant investment in the districtís commitment to prepare its students to excel in the area of computer technology Monday evening.
At its regular monthly meeting, the board approved the purchase of a new Mac computer lab for Burnet High School, featuring 25 iMac/Apple Care Bundles at a cost of $53,205.
The board members also approved the purchase of three Chromebook Mobile Labs for Bertram Elementary School at a cost of $25,169.
Each of the three labs has 25 individual computers.
In addition, the board approved a Computer Programming course to be part of the BHS curriculum beginning with the 2013-2014 school year.
The investment in the new computer labs and the addition of the programming course will serve the district and its students well, Jim Connor, secondary curriculum coordinator, said.
