County burn ban still off – for now
June 25, 2013, 7:00 pm by James Walker
Hundred degree days and brisk summer winds are just around the corner but it’s not time for a burn ban.
But don’t blink. It could happen at any time.
That was the message from Burnet County’s Commissioners Court Tuesday after hearing a report from Herb Darling, the county’s environmental services director.
"We’re still in decent shape as far as a burn ban is concerned,” Darling told the commissioners. "But when we get into the 100-degree days, the winds pick up and things dry out it could change in a hurry.”
