The Burnet Bulldogs moved their district record to 2-2 on Friday night with a 35-14 win over the visiting Llano Yellowjackets. The Dawgs scored the game’s first points with 3:29 left in the opening quarter on a two-yard Brock Foster run. Austin Huff added the PAT to put Burnet up 7-0.
With 7:09 left in the half Llano’s Carter Tatsch pushed across the goal line for a three-yard score and following the PAT kick the ball game was tied, 7-7.
Burnet regained their lead before the break with touchdowns on back-to-back possessions. The first was a 22-yard Derek Kiser to Blayne Parisher connection and the two hooked up again from 11-yards out for Burnet’s third score. Huff made both PAT’s to put the Dawgs on top, 21-7 at the break.
Llano took the second half kickoff and drove down-field in nine plays scoring with a little trickery on a 44-yard halfback pass. The PAT hit its mark making it 21-14 with 8:13 left in the third.
Seven plays later the Bulldogs returned to the end zone, this time on a Kiser three-yard keep. Huff split the poles and Burnet led, 28-14 with 5:50 in the third.
Both defenses continued to do battle but with just 4:35 remaining in the game Foster ran right up-the-gut for a three-yard score. Huff tacked on the PAT making it 35-14 which was eventually the final.
Llano will host Brownwood next Friday night for the district finale, while the Bulldogs travel to Lampasas.
