A Georgetown man escaped injury Tuesday morning after being dunked into choppy Lake LBJ when his sailboat capsized.

Burnet County Sheriff’s Deputy Israel Perez said the unidentified man was alone on his O’Day sailboat, about 150 feet offshore of Highland Haven when strong winds turned his world upside down.

The sailor was wearing a life vest and had submerged several times in an attempt to save the sails of the boat when a concerned onlooker called 911shortly after 11 a.m., Perez said.

Marble Falls EMS, the Granite Shoals Fire Department, volunteers manning a ski-boat from Camp Champions and LCRA Ranger Larry Robertson responded, but before they arrived, dock workers William Bourland and Ronnie Bonner saw the shipwrecked sailor and came to his aid.
