Police investigating death of 18-year-old Burnet High School student
Darlene Jackson was found dead in her bed in her Burnet home Saturday evening.

Burnet Police are awaiting the results of a toxicology report as they continue their investigation into the death of an 18-year-old Burnet High School senior who was found dead in her bedroom.

Darlene Jackson was unresponsive when her younger brother found her at about 11 a.m. Saturday, a family friend said.

Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson said he was called to the scene at about 11:20 a.m. Saturday.

There was no evidence of foul play and Jackson’s body was taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office in Austin where an autopsy was performed, Nelson said.

The autopsy report did not list a cause of death and included a notation that a ruling was "pending toxicology report.”

Results of the toxicology report on the body will take about a month and the police investigation is continuing, Nelson said.
