Cruz, Williams victorious in TexasNovember 06, 2012, 8:15 pm by Phil Schoch
Republican U. S. Senate nominee Ted Cruz and Congressional District 25 Republican nominee Roger Williams rolled to big victories over their opponents in Tuesday’s general election, according to unofficial returns. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney had a
substantial advantage over President Barack Obama in Burnet County and Texas
but Obama surpassed the needed 270 electoral votes late Tuesday when he won in
Ohio, finally winning 303 of the electoral votes. With the voting complete in Burnet County, Romney had 12,828 votes (76.45 percent) against just 3,672 (21.88 percent) for the president. Cruz had 12,098 votes (72.83 percent) in the county’s early voting to 3,883 (23.37 percent) for Democrat Paul Sadler in the race to succeed retiring Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson in the Senate. For more of this story, see Wednesday's Burnet Bulletin.
