Child dies; mother critical

February 19, 2013, 9:00 pm by Lyn Odom

A four-year-old Burnet boy was killed and his mother was listed in critical condition Tuesday when they were ejected during a vehicle rollover north of Llano near Baby Head on TX 16 early Monday morning.

Police reported that in the dark hours a blue 2004 Dodge Ram left the roadway and rolled over several times, throwing the driver, Bobbie Aull, 28, and her 4-year-old son, who was not restrained in a car seat or by a seat belt, from the truck.

"Somebody noticed the truck’s lights from the roadway just before sunrise,” said DPS Trooper Frank Randolph, who responded to the accident. "It was still dark when the truck was discovered. The boy was not in a car seat and there was not one in the truck.”

According to police, the mother and child were not far from each other, but had been thrown approximately 75-feet.

When first responders arrived at the scene the boy was unresponsive and Aull had sustained life-threatening injuries, said Randolph. She is currently in the ICU at University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin.
