City moves forward on YMCA deal

March 05, 2013, 9:30 pm by James Walker

The Burnet City Council and the YMCA of Greater Williamson County have signed off on an agreement to begin work on a contract that could see the YMCA operating city-owned Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center by this fall.

The city council unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding, which outlines operating subsidies and costs associated with running Galloway-Hammond, at its Feb. 26 meeting.

The council also approved an interlocal agreement with the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District that will result in a police officer being present on the district’s campuses for the remainder of the school year.
