Over an inch of rain, wind damage reported with storms

Thunderstorms that rolled through the area last night dropped over an inch of rain in Burnet and northern parts of the county and caused wind damage.

A severe thunderstorm watch was initiated at around 8 p.m. for Burnet, Llano and Blanco counties until 10:25 p.m. Burnet County dispatch warned of possible dime sized hail and lightning strikes in the area. At 8:17 p.m., authorities reported heavy rain near Inks Lake Bridge.

Strong winds damaged a plane sitting at Kate Craddock Field municipal airport in Burnet. A tree was blown down in the Vanderveer Church of Christ parking lot that sits along TX 29 east of US 281.

LCRA reported the following inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours:

Burnet, 1.8; Tow, 1.8; Llano, 0.28; Kingsland, 0.3; Round Mountain, 0.34; Backbone Creek at Marble Falls, 0.07; Spicewood, 0.1; Johnson City, 0.2; and Blanco, 0.7.

While the remainder of the work week is predicted by be sunny, the Hill Country may see another chance at rain over the weekend. LCRA reports that Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high of 77 degrees, and Friday will be partly cloudy with a high of 82. The weekend may bring another chance at rain, with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and a high of 81. Sunday will see a sunny high of 68.
