MF sales tax hitting record heights

Marble Falls had one of the most profitable holiday seasons ever, with record highs in the fourth quarter of last year, state sales tax figures show.
Those numbers, along with the latest release of sales-tax returns, provide a "reason to be optimistic” about the city’s economy, said Christian Fletcher, executive director of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
Last month, the $663,007.21 sales-tax allocation was the largest the city has ever received, Fletcher said. The February allocation is based on December numbers once they are computed by the State Comptroller’s office.
"It was not only the best February ever for allocation received, but it was the best allocation ever received by at least three percent,” Fletcher said. "We also had our biggest January allocation by more than seven-and-a-half percent.” The January allocation, which indicates the biggest November for sales tax in Marble Falls, was $520,981.42.
