Bluebonnet designation credit goes to one manís idea

Hard work and community volunteerism are no strangers to Charles Brinkley.
He has devoted the majority of his time in the Burnet community to beautification projects; he was also the spearhead behind Burnetís well-known distinction as "The Bluebonnet Capital of Texas.Ē
Brinkley moved to Burnet with his wife in 1968 and became interested in community participation. His wife Faye (Hoover) Brinkley is a Burnet native, and in 1982, they became very involved with the Burnet Chamber of Commerce.
"Back then, nearly all of us were on some sort of committee or event. We all helped in the same events around town, and we eventually formed the Junior Chamber of Commerce,Ē Brinkley said. "Thatís when we really became active. We just did things for fun, not because we thought they would be spectacular, but because we enjoyed it.Ē
