Chili’s Marble Falls will host their annual More Hope Campaign For St. Jude with the help of local first responders.
September is Cancer Awareness Month, and this Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 17-18), Burnet Fire Department and Marble Falls Fire Rescue will be at Chili’s restaurant soliciting donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Burnet Fire Department will be collecting on Tuesday evening and Marble Falls Fire Rescue will be collecting all day on Wednesday.
Chili’s General Manager Eric Friedrichs said that Chili’s restaurants across the country raise about $5 million each year.
"Our annual St. Jude’s fundraiser is the one really big fundraiser that Chili’s gets involved in every year on a national level. We’ve exceeded our annual goal as a brand every year,” he said. "In conjunction with our Hero Wall, which features first responders, the local firefighters and EMS are given the opportunity to compete and raise funds. Last year Marble Falls Fire Rescue came out and did a variation on fill-the-boot.”
Burnet Fire Department and Marble Falls Fire Rescue will be competing against each other with all of the donations going towards St. Jude’s in Memphis, Tenn.
"Burnet Fire Department is coming out on Tuesday evening, and that is also our daddy daughter night, so we expect to see a lot of traffic,” said Chili’s Assistant Manager Mary Westbrook. "We’re excited to see how it goes.”
