Four Burnet teenagers are being held in the city's juvenile detention center after being arrested in connection with the vandalism and burglary of Burnet Middle Schooland buildings at the school's football stadium early Saturday.
All of the boys are under 16 years old and their names are not being released, Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson said Tuesday.
They were arrested on charges of Felony Criminal Mischief and Burglary of a Building, Nelson said.
They apparently attended the football game between Burnet and Gatesville Friday evening, the police chief said.
"They apparently hung around until everyone left and then broke into the middle school and a couple of buildings next to the football field," Nelson said.
Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Keith McBurnett said the youths broke into the middle school sometime between midnight and 7 a.m.
They wrote or painted graffiti on exterior and interior walls and broke and destroyed equipment and other items in classrooms and smashed a window, McBurnett said.
The boys also broke into a school nurse's office and stole medicine from there, the superintendent said.
