MFISD brings on former superintendent as interim middle school principal

MFISD Superintendent Dr. Robert O’Connor announced the appointment of Brett Koch, a former superintendent of schools for Early Independent School District, as the interim principal for Marble Falls Middle School.
"I’m excited to just build relationships with the kids and with the staff. When you’re a superintendent you don’t get as many opportunities to do that — I’ve missed it,” Koch said.
Current Marble Falls High School Principal John Schumacher accepted a position as Assistant Superintendent of schools at Johnson City ISD last week and has said he will work back and forth between the two campuses to work with the interim principal through January.
"My plan at this point is to be there through the month of January and to be there full time no later than Feb 3,” Koch said.
The former superintendent resigned his position in Early ISD in November and has over 25 years of experience in education filling roles as a teacher, coach, athletic director, K-12 principal, middle and high school principal.
"It was time for a change,” he said of his resignation.
O’Connor appointed an interim administrator to oversee the Middle School until the largest pool of top candidates becomes available to interview with a committee in February and March.
