At the meeting, Bertram City Council signed an agreement with the Lower Colorado River Authority for a $25,000 grant to go toward the purchase of two new police vehicles.
Councilmember John Mandigo argued that the sum would not fully fund the purchase of two new vehicles.
"We’ve done everything we could to keep the costs down in the city,” he said. "All the feedback I’ve gotten suggests we’re doing a good job.”
"I don’t want our police driving junk cars,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Glen Hopkins.
Mayor Dickie Allen pointed out that in the last year, the
city paid $8,356 in vehicle maintenance.
