Reader CommentsIt appears that the Burnet County Jail is far from the profitable venture it was envisioned and presented to be and that has been reflected in the low wages paid to employees. Retention of skilled/trained workers has been a been a major problem and I am certain that most peoplein the county know someone who has worked there for a short period and has left as a result of the low pay, sometimes unpleasant working conditions, and very few opportunities for advancement. When a correctional facility is unable to compete with fast food places for high school graduates, something is drastically out of order. The county and LSC have had a major problem on their hands for some time and it has only recently surfaced. It will onlyget worse. |
