Mayor encourages voter turnout
Burnet Mayor Gary Wideman spent Tuesday afternoon amongst citizens, like art gallery owner Daniel Adams, at a Chamber of Commerce sponsored luncheon.
Burnet Mayor Gary Wideman urged residents to get to the polls on Nov. 6 and vote for one of the four city council candidates that were present at a Chamber of Commerce sponsored luncheon Tuesday afternoon.

The event, which took place at the Hill Country Community Foundation, is organized around getting Wideman together with residents to openly speak about issues facing the tcity. While the mayor did speak about some topics on the minds of citizens, he also took time to present each candidate and encourage people to have a say in how the city operates.

"This is a great opportunity and I really appreciate all of you coming out,” Wideman said. "Exercise that right we are privileged to have in a country like this.”

Wideman first spoke about the major talking points in town, such as construction of a new sewer plant and the future of the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center as the YMCA continues to show interest.
