Volleyball in the hunt

October 16, 2012, 11:59 pm by BurnetSports

Burnet’s varsity Lady Bulldog volleyball team improved their chances at a spot in the playoffs with two big district wins last week. The victories moved the girls 8-3A record to 4-3 with three games left as of Friday. All three of those are road games and are against opponents that Burnet lost to in the first round.

Three teams from the district will advance to the playoffs and as of presstime Liberty Hill and Gatesville were leading the way. Brownwood and Lampasas are pretty much out of the mix so that leaves Burnet and Llano fighting for the third spot if the second round finishes out like the first.

The Lady Dawgs final district game will be played at Llano on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Now if Burnet beat Liberty Hill this past Tuesday, or if they can beat Gatesville on Friday and Llano falls to both of them then it would certainly help the Lady Dawgs.
