It was a tough week for the varsity Lady Bulldogs who dropped two matches to Fredericksburg and Bandera. On Tuesday Burnet hosted the Lady Billies and came up short in three games, 17-25, 21-25, and 12-25.
On Friday they traveled to Bandera and fell in four, 9-25, 25-20, 21-25, 11-25. No other information was available on these games.
The JV girls also lost two matched last week. They were defeated by Fredericksburg on Tuesday 14-25, 25-16, 18-25, and Bandera on Friday, 25-18, 23-25, 21-25.
The freshman volleyball team defeated Fredericksburg on Tuesday in two games, 25-15, 25-19. "We started out the match with some great intensity and team work,” said coach Brent Kelley.
"The scrappiness in which we played dictated what Fredericksburg was able to do. We dug and blocked their attacks which I’m sure frustrated them, in turn causing them to make errors. We had to tweak our line-up just a bit but the girls adjusted great. Again, I’m proud of how we are improving every time we step on the court,” added Kelley.
Like their older counterparts the freshman had a tough time against Bandera on Friday. The girls lost in three, 16-25, 25-21, 23-25.
On Friday, Sept. 13 the freshman volleyball team traveled to Wimberley and came home with a great win, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20. "As you can see from the scores this was a tough match. All three sets went back and forth. We played scrappy and smart and made plays when we needed them. We needed all 11 girls stepping up and they did,” said Kelley.
