On Friday the Burnet cross country Dust Dawgs participated in their first traditional meet of the 2013 season at the large Pflugerville Invitational at North East Metro Park.
The girls team had a fantastic showing placing second out of nine teams in attendance. Their success can be credited to the fact that there was only 45-seconds between their first and fifth runners.
Individually Tara Evers placed 12 out of 61 to earn a medal.
"This is a first in about six years that a Burnet varsity girls team has placed that high in a meet, so it’s a great way for us to start our season,” said coach Stuart Dixon.
The Burnet boys also did a nice job against quality competition placing seventh out of 12 teams. Drew Kiser finished third overall earning a medal.
