JV moves to 2-0

Burnetís JV football team moved their season record to 2-0 Thursday night with an exciting 17-14 win over the visiting Rockdale Tigers.
Burnetís first score of the night came on a 22-yard Jonathan Brown run in the second quarter. The Dawgs tacked on the two-point conversion with a Cody Jones reception from Caleb Alexander.
In the fourth Lance Armentrout scored on a 3-yard run, but Burnetís two point attempt failed leaving them with 14 points.
With just over two minutes remaining in the game it was tied up at 14 all with the Dawgs in control and moving the ball.
The series eventually stalled and with the clock winding down Burnet sophomore kicker Alex Melvin took center stage. With a swift swing of the leg he booted the game winning 37-yard field goal which brought the score to 17-14, Bulldogs.To read more about the JV's great start pick up today's Burnet Bulletin.
