If you were part of the packed house at Bulldog Stadium Friday night, you more than got your money’s worth.

It was one of those games where pacemaker patients and pregnant women might should have consulted their doctors before attending.

The Bulldogs had a comfortable 14-0 lead at the end of the first, but that comfort zone vanished quick and with the scoreboard reading 17-17 at halftime things were far from cozy in the Bulldog locker room.

The third quarter was like a downhill spiral on a crazy coaster ride that brought the insanity factor out of many fans, coaches, and players alike.

The Hawks turned a Bulldog fumble into early third quarter points, 24-17. The visitors completely silenced the once roaring Burnet fan base when on their very next series they again found pay-dirt on an endzone pass that made it 31-17 just two minutes later, and that’s how the third ended.

The Bulldogs were living on life-support, almost flat-lined at times until a shocking resuscitation came.

That jolt was an 8-yard Trenton Hafley run behind a sick Cameron Langley block that had the pride of Burnet gasping for air. Even though the conversion was missed, and the Dawgs trailed by eight points, 31-23, there was new found life and those small hairs on the back of the Bulldog’s necks began to rise.

The teams traded a few punts running off valuable time but Burnet punter Austin Huff couldn’t have placed his punt better penning the Hawks just inside their 2-yard line with an absolutely sensational 54-yard spot-on boot that drew instant gratification from the homecoming crowd.
