Dawgs fall to Ducks in final seconds

October 02, 2012, 11:59 pm by Wayne Craig

It was four quarter of fast-paced football Friday night in Taylor with the entire game lasting just over two hours and that’s including the 30-minute halftime show.

The first half was played in fair weather but those conditions deteriorated as the game went on.

The slippery football created turn-over problems for each team, but it was an unlikely, rushed, 35-yard Duck field-goal with rain coming down that decided the contest with just seven-seconds until finish.

Burnet received the opening kick and Jordan Barnard sprinted out to the 36 to give Burnet nice starting field position.

Blayne Parisher kick-started the offense with a 7-yard reception and Trent Hafley moved the chains with a 12-yard scamper.

Parisher pulled the Dawgs out of a third and 10 hole with a short catch that he turned into a 19-yard first down producing run to the Duck 25.

A screen from Derek Kiser to Cameron Langley netted 15 more steps to the nine behind a nice James Nesom lead block.

Hafley drove to the five and Jake McElroy took the honors from there shedding a would be tackler and plunging in for the game’s first score.

Austin Huff’s point after hit the mark giving the Bulldogs a 7-0 advantage. It was a nine-play, 66-yard drive that took 3:47 off the clock.
