October 23, 2012, 11:59 pm by Wayne Craig

Burnet’s freshman Bulldogs fell short to the Gatesville Hornets on the road last Thursday, 13-8. In the first quarter the Dawgs moved the ball inside the 5-yard line but was unable to score. Gatesville put the game’s first points on the board in the second quarter with an 85-yard rushing touchdown and the 7-0 score remained on the board until the fourth quarter.

With less than two minutes left to play Burnet QB Austin Moore found Joel Johnson for an 8-yard score. Burnet was able to take the lead with a successful two-point conversion from Moore to Darius Johnson, 8-7.

Gatesville drove the length of their home field in less than one minute and scored the game winning touchdown as time ran out, 13-8.

Burnet’s defense played great and was led by Johnson. Offensive standouts included Johnson, Brock Foster, and Moore.
