Margaret Stokes Brown March 12, 1919 ~ Oct. 21, 2012October 11, 2012, 9:00 am by Staff Reports
She was born March 12, 1919 in Houston, to Stokes and Eula Pearce Brown. She worked as a secretary for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and Todd Shipyard in Houston during her career. Brown was also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Burnet for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Clara Brown, brother Bill Brown, and brother-in-law Thomas V. Atkinson, Sr. She is survived by her sister Maxine Atkinson of Tyler, Texas; nephew Thomas V. Atkinson, Jr. and wife Arden of Traverse City, Mich.; nieces Mary Howard and husband Phil of Macedonia, Ohio, and Tempe Bacarisse and her husband Dan of Tyler; three grandnieces; two grandnephews; five great-grandnieces; and one great-grandnephew. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services for will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Buddy Johnson officiating.
