Olfers was born on Sept. 6, 1921, to Adolph Olfers and Ella (Gold) Olfers in Fredericksburg. He married Elizabeth Helen Franger on Jan. 19, 1947, in San Antonio. He was an Elevator Installer and Service Technician by trade. He was a veteran who served in the Army Air force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He later served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Longhorns Cavern Camp.
Olfers is survived by wife Elizabeth Olfers of Morgan Mill; daughter Diane (Olfers) Stokes and husband Kenneth of Morgan Mill; son Gary Olfers and wife Sue of Horseshoe Bay; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Graveside Services will be 2 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet with Rev. Frank Spillman officiating. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Lacy Funeral Home, Stephenville, Texas. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 27, at
Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland.
