Bartlett died Nov. 3, at Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. Services are under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet.
Sarah Elizabeth Higdon was born, June 13, 1935 in Memphis, Hall County, Texas, to Lemuel Hiram "Billie” and Opal Joy Kennedy Higdon. The family moved to Weatherford, Texas, in 1939; and then to Muleshoe, Texas, in 1941 where she started to school. In 1943, the Higdons relocated to Brownfield. There, she continued through school graduating from Brownfield High School in 1953. She went to work for GTE in 1958 in Brownfield, and remained with GTE until her retirement in 1989. She married Weldon "Bart” Bartlett in 1972.
After both retired from GTE, the couple made their retirement home in Kingsland. She enjoyed painting, macramé, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. In her retirement years, she made caps for children cancer patients at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. She also took pleasure in making baby quilts for family and friends. Her chocolate and apple pies were the best. She loved dancing with her favorite partner, "Bart,” winning a dance contest or two. Her dad was a boxer in his younger years and later trained boxers for the Golden Gloves. From this she developed a love for boxing and she followed it faithfully. Most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband Weldon "Bart” Bartlett; children Darrell Willingham and wife Susan of Carlsbad, N.M., Frank Willingham of Georgetown, Charles Willingham of Waco, Cyndra Rogotzke of Cedar Park, Wesley David Bartlett and wife Audrea of Granite Shoals, Barbara Bartlett of Horse Shoe Bay, Paula Fullen and husband Jerry of Eastland, Texas, Sandra McMullen and husband Roger of San Angelo, and Kathy Taylor and husband Buzz of Breckenridge, Texas; grandchildren Amanda Knott and husband Randy of Carlsbad, N.M., Heath Willingham and wife Bobbie Jo of Carlsbad, N.M., Cory Willingham and wife Kristel of San Antonio, Lyssa Willingham of Waco, Sarah Purkypile and husband Justin of Aurora, Colo., Tommy Willingham of Lubbock, Joshua Rogotzke of San Angelo, Cyarah Rogotzke of Austin, Kristen Bartlett of Tow, Shayna Bartlett of Burnett, Ashton Reyes of Granite Shoals, Hannah Reyes of Granite Shoals, Jerry McCormick and wife Jennifer of Breckenridge, Toby McCormick and wife Barbra of Breckenridge, Salina Wood and husband Brandon of Panhandle, Texas; TJ McBay and wife Shelly of Albany, Texas; Stephanie Chavez and husband Timothy of Breckenridge, Carla McKennon of Azel, Texas, Ricky Golden and wife April of Hobbs, N.M., Richard Golden of Santa Fe, N.M., Matalie Bartlett of San Angelo, Roger McMullen Jr. of San Angelo, and James McMullen of San Angelo; 35 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph Charles Higdon and wife Barbara of Clovis, N.M.; nephews Gregory Higdon of Clovis, and Michael Higdon of San Antonio.
