James L. Evans, II Nov. 5, 1951 ~ Dec. 13, 2012
James Leslie Evans II passed away on Dec. 13 at his home.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1951 in Oakland, Calif., and grew up in Chula Vista, Calif., a suburb of San Diego.
He was predeceased by parents James and Margaret; and brother Richard. He is survived by a brother Gary in San Diego; wife Barbara of Burnet; and son James L Evans III of San Marcos.
Evans graduated from Hilltop High School and Southwestern Jr College, both in Chula Vista, then from Fresno State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Mechanization.
He then earned a Master of Science degree, summa cum laude, in Agriculture with a specialization in Irrigation and Mechanized Agriculture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif., in 1983.
Most of his working career was spent overseas, in the Middle East and Central America, working with farmers. He retired and settled in Burnet in September of 2000. He served as president of both the Council Creek South POA and the East Lake Buchanan HOA.
Evans was a remarkable person in many different ways and was dearly loved by family and friends around the world. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 3 at the East Lake Buchanan Community Center in Silver Creek at 1 p.m.
