Allan Ray Redman Jan. 31, 1931 ~ Dec. 27, 2012

Redman was born Jan. 31, 1931 in Shawano, Wis. He grew up in this small town and was quite the celebrated student having played just about every sport the school had. In 1948, he was selected to participate in the Badger Boys State program and represented Wisconsin as a "mock” governor. During that week he met President Harry Truman. As an accomplished athlete, he went on to Ripon College on an athletic scholarship until the onset of the Korean War.
Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force, Redman served his country for 28 years. Redman also went to Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and a disabled veteran earning the bronze star and many other accolades.
During those first years in the military he met his lovely bride, Marilyn Kunes. They spent 57 wonderful years together raising their four children and traveling all over the United States and
Canada.
Even though he had many accomplishments as a student and in his career, the one accomplishment that meant everything to him was his family. He loved his four children and five grandchildren more than anything in his life. He knew the best decision he ever made was to move to Horseshoe Bay where he could celebrate life to the fullest. Everyone wanted to come and see mom and dad, especially the grandkids, who never grew tired of fun in the lake country. He could also play a lot of golf, which he never got enough of.
Redman was preceded in death by his parents Hattie and Carl Redman, and four sisters. He is survived by wife Marilyn; daughter Lisa and husband Rusty Breshears of San Antonio; son Bill
Redman of San Antonio; daughter Debbie and husband Jon Lindholm of San Antonio; daughter
Lynn and husband Chris Cage of Austin; grandchildren Anthony Redman, Jessica Gonzales,
Taylor Breshears, Meagan Lindholm and Eric Lindholm.
Memorial Services will be at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel in Horseshoe Bay on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to one of his favorite charities, the St. Paul the Apostle Church Building Fund or the Salvation Army.
