A memorial service in his memory and in celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, Jan. 12. The time of the memorial service is still pending at this time.
McMinimy was born Dec. 20, 1942, in Wichita, Kan., to Fred and Nila McMinimy. He lived a full life. After graduating High School in California he joined the Marine Corps in 1966 and did a stint at Vietnam in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1968.
He joined the Costa Mesa Fire Department in 1968 and retired 2005 as a captain, which fulfilled his long time dream of being a fireman. After retirement he moved to Burnet to be close to his family. Ron was involved with the Lake Area Rods and Classics Car Club in Burnet and the Marine Corp League in Temple. McMinimy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard McMinimy, and grandparents. He is survived by son Ryan McMinimy of Burnet; sisters Mary Hamel of Copperas Cove, and Nancy Aldridge of Ohio; five nieces; five nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; one uncle; three aunts; and numerous cousins.
