Raymond Earl Getzie, 91, of Tow passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2. He was born in Houston on May 6, 1921, to Mary Elizabeth (Fahid) Getzie and Henry Getzie.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He married Willie Mae Hart on Oct. 1, 1948 in Houston.
Raymond drove a truck for Yellow Transit Freight for 30 years. He had been a resident of Tow for the past 32 years, after moving from Magnolia, Texas.
He is survived by daughters Janette Holland and husband Jim of Houston, Mary Elizabeth Burnett of Phoenix, Ariz., and Shirley Ann Hilton and husband Ray of Houston; son Rocky Getzie of Tow; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Mae Getzie on Dec. 21, 2004; and brother Charlie Getzie.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel in Llano with Reverend Jerald Moore officiating. Burial followed at the Tow Cemetery.
