Audley Brunson June 22, 1918 ~ Jan. 24, 2013
Audley Brunson, 94, went to His Glory on Jan. 24 following several years of failing health.
In June 22, 1918, he was born to Franklin and Edna Brunson in Jersey, Ark. He was the youngest of 15 children.
He graduated from Arkadephia High School and immediately went to assist his sister, Iva, finish a crop after her husband had died. He moved to Midland where he delivered bread for a short time. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1943, and was stationed at El Paso and Deming, N.M. He was discharged in 1948. He married Macie Haire and lived in El Paso where their daughter, Ann, grew up and went to school. Brunson was an automobile management professional for many years.
Having two sisters and a brother living in Bonanzo Beach, it seemed logical that they retire there, thus the new home was built. In 1985, he joined the First Baptist Church community and later became a deacon. He served on many committees and was an usher. The Silver Creek Fire Department and Emergency Service, where he and Macie served at EMTs, were very important to him. One of his fondest memories was being baptized in the Mississippi River.
Upon Macie’s death in 1996, he continued to garden and stay active in the community. In 2003, he married Linda South at the First Baptist Church, which was officiated by Carl Hudson. Brunson was preceded in death by his parents, and 14 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by wife, Linda of Bonanzo Beach; daughter Ann and husband Robert Conklin of Houston; Sister Iva Ryan of Galveston; grandchildren Robert Conklin Jr. of Milwaukee, Wis., Evann Peck of Groton, Mass., and Melissa Montana of Brazil; and great-grandchildren Ronnie, Bryan and Tyler Peck of Groton, Mass.
Visitation will be held at the Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet on Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 6-8 p.m., and funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 with Rev. Carl Hudson and Richard West officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Buchanan Fellowship Church 13218 FM 2341 in Burnet.
Arrangements made by Edgar Funeral Home in Burnet.
