Raymond L. Holtzen Oct. 7, 1922 ~ Jan. 29, 2013

Raymond Leroy Holtzen died Jan. 29 in Marble Falls. He was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Fairmont, Okla., as the youngest of 13 children of John and Margaretha Holtzen.
Holtzen served proudly in World War II in Europe with the U.S. First Army Signal Corp. He met Jean Betty Duncan in England during the war and they were married by proxy on Sept. 22, 1945 and in the church on Aug. 9, 1946.
Holtzen worked as a construction supervisor of numerous soil conservation dams in Oklahoma.
Upon retirement the couple moved to Lake Texoma. They were members of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Durant, Okla.
They enjoyed arts and crafts, and traveled to many craft fairs selling their handmade wooden toys and crafts.
Holtzen moved back to Marble Falls in 2012 to be closer to his daughter Jeannette Wilson. Raymond was predeceased by wife Betty, and son David Lee Holtzen.
He is survived by daughter Jeannette H. Wilson and husband Jim of Marble Falls; son Colin Ray Holtzen and wife Tracey of Broken Arrow, Okla.; grandson Jason Ray Holtzen and wife Amanda of Bartlesville, Okla.; and great-granddaughter Quinn of Bartlesville.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in Mead, Okla. Memorials to the American Heart Association in memory of Raymond would be appreciated.
