Ronald McRea Mikkelson, 77, of Horseshoe Bay, passed away peacefully on Feb. 9.
He was born April 2, 1935, in Blue Earth, Minn. He moved from Benson, Minn. in 1978 to Burnet and later Horseshoe Bay where he owned and operated Mikkelson Landscaping.
He was also a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Mikkelson was preceded in death by son Douglas of Alexandria, Minn.; brother Donald Mikkelson of New Ulm, Minn.; brother-in-law John Birk of Blue Earth; and brother-in-law Willard Schimmel and his wife Esther of Waterford, Conn.
His is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evonne of Horseshoe Bay; son Reverend Scott Mikkelson of Georgetown; daughter Sheryl Schnitzler and husband Jerry of Horseshoe Bay; grandchildren Ryan Schnitzler and wife Chandra, Jason Schnitzler and wife Rachel, and Jake Schnitzler and wife Lillian; greatgrandchildren Mason, Lila, Khai, and Makenna; brother Terry Mikkelson and wife Carolyn of Blue Earth; sister-in-law Leone Birk of Blue Earth; sister-in-law Thelma of New Ulm; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 13 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday Feb. 14, 2013 at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel in Horseshoe Bay, officiated by Reverend Scott Mikkelson and Reverend Ruben Patino. Entombment will follow at the Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum.
Those named as pallbearers were Terry Mikkelson, Ryan Schnitzler, Jason Schnitzler, Jake Schnitzler, Rudy Franco and William Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers named are Seth Henderson, Doug Ripple, Steve Nash, and Steve Hall.
